The Southern Majorette Association was co- founded by Marrianne, a former Majorette from the 1980's and in recent years a Majorette Trainer and now a Co Leader in Somerset, to try to bring a different perspective to Competitions.

1/ Uncomplicated, Friendly and Fun, for Troupes to compete against each other.

2/ Separate facilities for judging uniforms.

3/ Judging from different areas of Centre to provide clearer views of floor.

4/ Totally Independent Judges for all Competitions which allows every troupe to take part.

5/ FREE Membership of Association.

6/ ALL Competitions at one venue to avoid Troupes having to find facilities to hire.

7/ Solo/Duo sections both Majorettes & Baton Twirlers.*

8/ Alternative for those who have reached maximum age in their respective organisation.

* These sections take place in another Sports Hall next door to main one. Solos will depend on time free after Duos.

The Southern Majorette Association is here to recognise the skill and hard work put in by Trainers and Troupe Members from Grassroots Troupes/Teams that are dedicated to teach and learn in an environment away from intensive National/International Training. This allows for a level playing field but with the recognition so richly deserved and rewarded.

National/International Members will have separate sections in due course.

Simplified Rules and Organisation to allow Members to showcase their talents without having to implement criteria that has never been taught or used with regard to Twirl Dance.

This is a Social as well as Competition Event with Winning being a Bonus.

There are Runners Up but no Losers and the opportunity to improve for future Competitions is there. We also envisage bringing an element of FUN as well.
